Writer and photographer based in central North Carolina

Hi there! I’m Robert Alan Grand, a writer and photographer based in central NC. My writings on art and culture have appeared in Art in America, The Bitter Southerner, Burnaway, Garden & Gun, and the Oxford American, among others, and my photographs of the rural South have appeared in numerous exhibitions and regional publications.

Raised in Greenville, South Carolina, I have a BFA in Photography from Watkins College of Art in Nashville, TN. After college, I moved to Queens, New York, and from 2014-2019, I was the co-founder and co-director of Kimberly-Klark, an interdisciplinary project space in Ridgewood.

Currently, I am the Director of Marketing for the Sawtooth School for Visual Art and the Carolinas Editor-at-Large for Burnaway.
